Jamaal Bowman says Congress is 'broken' after spat with Thomas Massie over Nashville shooting

Image
Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., addressed his spat with Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., further on Thursday, saying that "the country should be yelling and screaming" like him. Rep. Jamaal Bowman expanded Thursday on his prior outburst against Rep. Thomas Massie over gun violence, arguing more Americans "should be yelling and screaming" following the mass shooting in Nashville. Bowman, who was a middle school principal prior to his election to Congress in 2020, argued the "broken" institution of Congress has failed to provide a remedy for the "sick society" that allows gun violence to occur regularly. "We're a sick society," Bowman told reporters outside the Capitol. "We're the only developed nation where this happens, and we're sick because this institution (Congress) has been broken for so long." "The whole country should be yelling and screaming and marching on these steps to make sure we pass legislation to do so

Gareth Southgate opens up on England's battle with USMNT for Folarin Balogun

Gareth Southgate has recognised England face com Pet ition from the United States to secure the international allegiance of Folarin Balogun. The Arsenal striker has spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Reims and has only been outscored in Ligue 1 by Kylian Mbappe and Jonathan David, registering 17 goals in 27 league Game s. Balogun was born in New York but moved to England when he was just two years old, making him eligible to play for the USMNT. Through his parents, he could also choose to represent Nigeria. After injury ruled him out of England's Under-21 Game s this international window, Balogun jetted off for a break in the United States. Balogun has held talks with USMNT representatives over the possibility of playing for the senior side - he has predominantly starred for England's youth teams, though did play four times for the United States' Under-18s back in 2018. Kevin Durant injury update: Suns star to return Wednesday vs. Timberwolves, per report

Kevin Durant will make his return to action next Wednesday when the Phoenix Suns host the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. Durant suffered a sprained ankle during warmups ahead of a Game against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and has been out recovering from that injury ever since. He missed almost two months earlier in the season while recovering from an MCL sprain. Durant has played only three games for the Suns since being traded from the Brooklyn Nets in February. If he plays in all seven of Phoenix's final games starting with that Wednesday tilt with the Timberwolves, that will boost his Suns total to 10 games. This creates the potential for a bit of history. No NBA champion has ever been led by a player who gave them more playoff games than regular-season appearances. Even if Phoenix swept through all four rounds of the playoffs, they'd have to p

NEW: Yes, the Cranston pool will reopen. But no, it won’t be this summer. And it won’t be the same.

Image
A press conference has been set for today – updates will be posted. Regardless of early morning reports that the Budlong Pool in Cranston will reopen this summer , it won’t. With repairs and maintenance not having been done since at least 2020, the pool is facing a reconstruct. And when that happens, national guidelines change everything. Budgets only grow higher in terms of labor, construction costs, and materials. Product availability may be even more of a challenge. The delays in addressing the Budlong Pool, and the lack of regular maintenance “due to the pandemic” are inexcusable, with blame for the delays squarely in the arena of party Politics . It is expected Mayor Hopkins will announce the use of the Park View Pool and the YMCA pool as alternatives for the community until repairs are completed and the Budlong Pool is opened. As with the Davey Lopes Pool in Providence, the pool will have to comply with federal safety regs and ADA regs that require in some cas

Jalen Brunson reportedly would've signed with Mavericks for $55.5M, who are paying royally for their mistake

The pain of the Dallas Mavericks allowing Jalen Brunson to leave for the Knicks seems to get worse every day. As Brunson and the Knicks are thriving, the Mavericks, after a desperate play to trade for Kyrie Irving, are spiraling way out of contention and perhaps into the lottery.  Now Brunson is twisting the knife even deeper.  In an interview with Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes, Brunson revealed that he wanted to stay for the long haul with the Mavericks, who reportedly could've had him for half of what he got from the Knicks.  From Haynes: Prior to the 2021-22 season, he was eligible for a four-year, $55.5 million extension. It was an offer Brunson's camp would have accepted if the Mavericks made it, sources tell B/R. In January 2022, his representatives tried to initiate dialogue on getting a deal done, but the Mavericks resisted. Brunson began cementing himself as the second-best player on the tea

Influencers take stock of life and dreams if US bans TikTok

When Cassidy Jacobson was 13 years old, she posted a video of herself dancing on the popular app TikTok. Little did she know then that six years later her Casssidy_J account would have 1.5 million followers on the short-form video platform with fans drawn to her love of dance and hair care. Jacobson dreams of using her success on TikTok - an app used by 150 million Americans - to start her own curly hair care line and inspire others to love their natural curls. That dream and those of other TikTok creators may be dashed as many lawmakers pressure the Biden administration to ban the popular Chinese-owned social media app in the United States, alleging the app could be used for data collection, content censorship and harm to children's mental Health . Last week, TikTok said the Biden administration demanded its Chinese owners divest their stakes or face a potential ban. Jacobson is preparing for the possibility that she may have to take her content elsewhere if the Chinese co

Snap launches enterprise division to help build AR features

Snap Inc, owner of photo messaging app Snapchat, launched a new division on Thursday that will help other companies build augmented reality features for their websites or apps. The division called AR Enterprise Services (ARES) marks the first time Snap will sell to business customers its AR technology, which can enhance photos and videos of the real world with computerized images, said Jill Popelka, head of ARES, in an interview. Advancing the field of AR has been a focus at Snap in recent years and it says over 250 million people engage with AR every day on Snapchat, which originally became popular among young users for photo filters that could add whimsical elements such as bunny ears. "A number of companies have tried to leverage AR outside of their platform, but we've proven on our app what we can do," Popelka said. "Now we have a real commercial-grade solution." The enterprise venture also comes as Snap is seeking to diversify its revenue beyond dig

For the first time in India, the image of “Fish drifting on the river” caused a stir

Image
The phenomenon of “Fish Flowing into Rivers” in the middle of the Desert is a wonderful and interesting phenomenon, making many people ѕᴜгргіѕed and curious. This is a natural phenomenon that occurs in desert areas, when large numbers of small fish run through a desert area like a river . This phenomenon is thought to be саᴜѕed by heavy rains over hilly areas, causing river s to flow into lower areas. In this process, river s carry large quantities of water and the types of organisms that live in them, including small fish. As these river s pass through the desert area, some small fish will fаɩɩ oᴜt of the flow and become drifting fish in the desert. However, it is surprising that these fish can still survive and continue to run on the sand thanks to their characteristics. The whale asked for human assistance to relieve the agonizing anguish brought on by the oyster that moved so many people (Video)

Recent studies have гeⱱeаɩed an extгаoгdіпагу behavior of whales that has ѕᴜгргіѕed researchers and сарtᴜгed the attention of the public. It seems that some ѕрeсіeѕ of whales approach humans in order to ask for help with a common problem they fасe: parasitic oysters. These small, pesky creatures attach themselves to the skin of the whale s, and can саᴜѕe irritation, discomfort, and even infection. In response, some whale s have developed a remarkable ѕtгаteɡу to deal with the issue: they seek oᴜt human divers and boats, and seemingly ask for their assistance in removing the oysters. Experts believe that the whales have learned to associate humans with the removal of parasites, and may even have come to recognize іпdіⱱіdᴜаɩ humans or boats that have helped them in the past. When a whale approaches a diver or boat, it will often remain still or even гoɩɩ over, presenting the аffeсted area for inspection and removal of the unwanted hitchhikers. This behavior has been ob

Respawn Wants Apex Legends To Last For 15 Years

Respawn wants to take the meaning of ongoing development to another level, keeping Apex Legends alive for up to 15 years. Very few live services stand a chance of making this a reality, but the Apex devs want us to still be playing the game more than a decade from now, and are already making plans in aid of this. This news comes as Respawn opens its third studio for Apex Legends development, as the company vice president admits that keeping up with demands is "no easy feat". However, it also comes as EA lays off 200 Apex Legends QA devs, suggesting a significant change of strategy rather than just ramping up production. Skyrim Players Share Bug That Lets You Run On Water With A Horse

Getting across water in Skyrim is a bit of a headache. You have to either slowly swim along or parkour across a series of scattered ice islands that have gaps too big to jump over. But what if you could just run across the waves? That's what u/ARXEUS_ is doing, as shared in a post on the Skyrim subreddit simply titled, "Didja know you can do this?" All you need is a horse (but be careful, some of them are narcs). Once you're swimming with it, dismount, float back up, get on the horse again, and voila, you'll be running as though you never entered the water. RELATED: Starfield Can’t Just Be Another Fallout Or Skyrim It looks a little wonky given that it's a bug, but in essence, the space under the horse's hoofs becomes land, meaning that you can sprint along in deep water as though it were shallow. If you're playing on Survival mode or with mods that make cold water a life-threatening hazard, getting across it quickly is vital,
