Metro Exodus Sequel Is Reportedly In Fully Playable State

Metro Exodus developer 4A Games announced back in 2020 that it was working on a new Metro game, but since then it's been pretty much radio silence. However, sources for Insider Gaming have claimed that the game may be closer to release than we think, even suggesting that it's in a fully playable state. If that's true, we could even see the game announced at some point later this year, although it's best not to get your hopes up too much before we hear anything official.

Ubisoft Confirms It Will Be At E3 2023 "If It Happens"

It reports are to be believed, then it seems like this may be the first year that none of the big three turn up to E3. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo are all apparently ducking out this year, but one publisher that will be there no matter what is Ubisoft. According to CEO Yves Guillemot, the publisher will have "lots to show" during the event but only "if it happens." A bit ominous considering the ESA still plans to host the event, unless it's having some doubts behind the scenes that is.

Lord of the Rings fans are going to be eating good over the next couple years, as license owner Embracer Group has revealed that it plans to release five Games based on the franchise between now and 2024. Embracer didn't reveal the scale of these titles, but we know there's at least one big Lord of the Rings Game on the horizon, that being Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is still to get a release date after it was delayed last year.

In the same earnings call, Embracer also revealed that it plans for newly acquired studios Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal to release 5 triple-a titles by 2028, although stopped short of telling us what they'll be. Of course, a new Tomb Raider Game is currently in development and will likely launch within the next couple of years, but the other four are a mystery. Fingers crossed for a Deus Ex reboot.

Ubisoft Cancelled Projects Because It Was Working On Too Many At The Same Time

We head back to Ubisoft for our final story, as the publisher has finally addressed concerns over the wave of cancellations we saw earlier this year. It turns out the publisher may have bitten off more than it could chew as, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, the publisher canned a bunch of games because it was working on too many at the same time. Ubisoft seems to have been spread too thin, and Guillemot claims projects were cancelled to "make space for other games."
